About Draw with Mike videos
The story behind the videos
Why am I making videos? After the release of Drawing from Line to Life I received requests from artists who said, "I learned a lot from your book but I like to see techniques demonstrated. Do you run workshops?" I didn't but I began to run them here in the UK, and then in the USA and Canada.

Then I was asked, "Do you have videos if I am unable to make it to a workshop?" Again, I didn't - but that was the obvious next step, and now I do!
Me being me, I decided right from the start that I don't want to make boring "man in front of an easel" videos. I want mine to be more enjoyable. Both instructional and entertaining. I set out to make these videos for those of you who prefer to see as well as read about the techniques I present.
In later series, I'll be bringing you outdoor video to learn from as well. When I draw trees I know what trees look like, or any other element within the drawing. I've been out and explored and studied them. So a purely studio-based video isn't going to help anyone understand much except with the techniques used. Technique is only 10% of art; the other 90% is the mindset used to create it, and knowledge of the subject, which comes from experiencing the outside world.
The cameras and lights arrangement
To expand resources to you, my new larger studio combines both art and video production. Arranging all the equipment was a challenge, but it's worked out wonderfully, and now I'm excited to be able to bring you these videos.
At present I'm making technique videos - the BASIC TECHNIQUE SERIES, based on my Drawspace Beginners course. It's a good place for you to start, because a firm foundation is the key to good drawing.
