Border - Yea or Nay?

Mike and others -
I'm curious if you like to put a very defined border around your drawings, or if you let the edge of the drawing be the border...and, more importantly, why you do this (or not). For example, would you draw a clean hard line around the edge with a ruler in darker pencil, or do you ...

Re: 4 Years, a Raven....and your help :)

Apologies for my delay in response. I’ve been here reading your posts, but due to a problem with my internet provider, I’ve been unable to post and have received and error each time I’ve attempted. It’s akin to being on a phone call and saying “ I can hear you…can you hear me?”. Technology can be ...

4 Years, a Raven....and your help :)

Hi, everyone -
I can hardly believe it's been 4 years since I picked up my graphite pencils! I looked at the date of my last drawing and may have gasped audibly when I realized how many years have flown by. I know....it's atrocious!!

I'm hoping for your thoughts and help on a drawing of a raven ...

Re: a redo of one of my first efforts

Wow! Side by side, I see such a difference. Those two steers in the front really jump forward and command a presence now. The energy of it is great. Lovely piece in my (novice) opinion.

Re: Horse and stable

Just wanted to reply with a note of thanks before heading off to work this morning. I cannot thank you both enough for your fresh perspective and constructive feedback. I tend to get myopia after working on a drawing so close, and then lose all objectivity, so your fresh sets of eyes are genuinely ...

Also apologies for the sideways post. Not sure what”s going on there, as it displays vertically on my computer. I promise I didn’t draw it horizontally...lol

Horse and stable

Hi everyone, I have spent the last few months admiring everyone’s work here (What an extraordinary group!), but this is my first time posting.

Im relatively new to drawing and have completed three of Mike’s courses, the last one being the intermediate course . Would you be so kind as to give me ...

Conqueror Paper weight - does it matter?

Hi, Mike -
This seems like such a novice question, but at the risk of embarrassing myself, I'll ask!

I believe I've found a source for Conquerer paper in the US (Brilliant White, ultra smooth finish). I've obtained samples of the paper, and it looks to the be the same paper that I've purchased ...
