"Vanished!"

I spent two wonderful afternoons surrounded by more than twenty Weimaraners so I had no shortage of material! It was during this time that various natural incidents occured that suggested the final composition.

It was my intention to bring out the full character of this marvellous breed, equally inquisitive and alert. The setting, with the early morning mist burning off the lake behind them, is entirely imaginary. Maybe it echoes the "Grey Ghost" description of the breed?

Why "Vanished!"? Take a close look near the feet of the two central dogs - the source of their curiosity seems to have sprung away.

The original drawing took 141 hours and 21 minutes to complete and remains in my own collection, although it is currently avaialbe for purchase.
