Re: Wild thing
What Laurene and Mike said. Scruffy is good. Your horse says more to me about the character of horses than a pretty portrait. Plus, draw what YOU love and like and want to express - don't draw to a 'market'. Its much more fun and satisfying. You may never make a fortune but you will be rich in many ...

Re: “DOBERMAN” - oil study.
’m up to gardening … and a wall sculpture …and making the side of the kitchen steps to become a living plant wall ~ sort of a big display that will cover up the whole side… WOW! You are taking the idea of indoor verticle gardening to an entirely new level! This is going to look amazing with...

Re: Muster
Thanks Mike.
I have now done three in this series, and Tansy is the most successful. Not sure where i am taking this idea of 'country' yet, or where it is going.
Maybe some crazy contraptions/windmills next.

Muster
Recently here in Australia there has been a show on the ABC called 'Muster Dogs'. Great program where 5 kelpie or border collie pups are given to stockmen/women to train in 12 months. Fun to watch these dogs learning their trade. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt17348078/ As my next project is a series ...

Re: “DOBERMAN” - oil study.
Thanks for the info. I haven't tried Alkyds - but have been dabbling with water soluble oils. They are a true oil you can clean up with water. Drying is frustrating so just purchased some drying medium to trial with them. Of course, just as I have been getting interested in them, they discontinued t...

Re: Merry Christmas
Linda, of course you know that your art is amazing. I will be happy to gift you, and all of my friends on the forum, with an original drawing. I have purchased a hundred Strathmore 400 series paper greeting cards that are 5X7" in size. Send me your address and if you have any suggestions as to...

Re: “DOBERMAN” - oil study.
I am enjoying this oil study, Pogs. Your technique of using grey mid-tone base is very traditional and works well. Did you use acrylics for this? I like using a sepia acrylic base - haven't tried a gray as yet. Are you using a drying medium in your oils? Just asking because you are making rapid prog...

Re: Christmas wishes
and a Happy New Year to you all. Pogs, the Christmas beetle is a form of scarab beetle. Here is a link: https://beetleidentifications.com/christmas-beetle/ These are the Golden Brown ones. Yes, they can damage gum (eucalyptus) trees, but generally in situations where there has been heavy logging and...

Re: Merry Christmas
the buffalo soldier unfriended me. that is just plain weird, Jay. You have got to wonder - did he think you were asking for payment or something? Weird. Perhaps the drawing looks a little too much like him? lol. That is the only thing I can think of. But know that WE appreciate your work!...
