I've done niece's face in full today, so the next layer of flesh tone will let me bring some more details up.
I did some blocking of the lips too.

I'm on fewer days off at the moment, so I'm working on it every day, after nearly a week gap...
I did another layer of flesh tone on both faces, I think it's a last layer - main one.
From now on I'm planning do only partial improvements around.
I did improve their lips too, and today's aim is their eyes ;)

Magda in particular is really coming to life. Although we've never met, I'm beginning to feel I know her. Her hair has body and substance now, too...

...which is all to the good - given that you really can't afford to fail :D

Yes - I can't afford to fail, lol lol lol ;)

I wanted to improve the eyes today, but I've done some additional blocking to the hair instead...

The last two updates really softened the facial features! The love between these two is coming through loud and clear!

Thanks a lot Laurene for your comment ;)
I did left this study behind for couple days, to come back to it today...
I didn't know where to begin, eyes shouting on me - GET US DONE! GET US DONE - you silly boy ;)
I did mix the flesh tone and went all over the niece's face instead?!
Hahahaaaa ;)
At this point I'm still unsure, whether I'm improving it or just got lost the plot ;)

 I know the feeling well! You know, your work schedule may be a blessing in disguise. Sometimes leaving a piece alone for a bit and coming back to it with fresh eyes would help me see what needed to be done. You’re on the right track here! This one and your self portrait are my favourite pieces you’ve done! (to date, anyway)

It's very kind of you!
Frankly I'm not sure of who has done my self-portrait Laurene, I doubt it could be me myself 😅
It simply went beyond my expectation...
There's still some beginner's mistakes involved within, but hey...
I'm surprised myself, lol ;)
I love it myself - what is very RARE ;)
Thank you ;)

Today I went over my wife's face trying add additional layer of the flesh tone, the same way I did on the niece...
I ended up with disaster, when accidentally touched the cheek with darker tone...
I tried to fix it, but then the paint started lifting off underneath layer...
Yes, lol - I did panic ;)
What you can see it's my best to correct that disaster.
I ended up having not enough of mixed flesh tone to cover up the neck/chest, but after this much of stress - I left it to finish at next session ;)

Frankly I can't say I'm enjoying the canvas surface.
The Jackson's described it as oil primed Belgian Linen...
If this is primed, why the colours getting very dull next day...
I got weird feeling, the surface just soaking the paint, what makes me confused to start with next layers, as I can't really see the exact values...
Never mind.
It's most probably the last painting I'm doing on the canvas not primed with gesso...

Oh no. It must be so frustrating but I know you’ll be able to get the results you’re after. Stepping away for a bit works for me too.
