Froggie has a knowing smirk on his face... he's off to sleep in the Princess' bed!
This work has been done in a variety of pencils starting with Staedtler Karat and Graphitint washes, then built up with dry hue and tone in Karat, graphite and touches of Faber Castel metallic gold pencil.
you can see a wip on this process in another work in the post titled 'Grim #8: Briar Rose'

Re: Grim #7: Frog Prince
I absolutely love the way Froggy is clinging to that ball. It's not that it's so natural, it's.... I don't know - real is the only way I can describe it.
And I love a drawing that contains things to find. The flying cog moths were relatively easy. The Ladybird/Ladybug-like critter less obvious.
And what's that bug on the top of the stalk!

Of course it is! How remiss of me
I met a gang of those in Wisconsin. I had a bumpy neck to prove it for a few days. Very buzzy engines as I recall...

I can’t stop smiling! Love his cocky attitude and the fact that he prefers a gear to a jewel for his crown.

Linda you told me this full story in few words
I'm fancy this drawing very much!
There's something that's getting in to my likeness at first look!
Lovely colours achieved, everything nicely drawn as always!
I've never mention it yet, but I do like those subtle horizontal lines filling up the background...
You adding them often to your drawings - very smart, looking just the way it suppose to...
I like it very much.
