The second of the Creative Series of videos is now available.
DRAWING MID VALUES:
following DRAWING DARK VALUES and with DRAWING LIGHT VALUES to come next.
Mid values are important because they carry the three-dimensional information - the substance of the subject.
I've taken my drawing "Ready and Waiting" and extracted four elements that all depend on mid-values:
- The weave of an old canvas bag - using layering as an alternative to blending.
- the 3D sculpting of a worn pair of boots, and the mindset required. Think SHAPING, not Shading.
- Reverse-layering - soft over hard - with hard blending to create a broken appearance (can be a bit "iffy" but... ).
- Creating misty backgrounds, old plastered walls, and other hazy surfaces using an old blender.

REMINDER:
VIDEOS, in the navigation above, now has a dropdown so you can easily move between the BASIC TECHNIQUES, CREATIVE TECHNIQUES, and DRAWING TIPS & TRICKS series. Clicking or tapping on VIDEOS directly takes you to a page where you can access the three series - which you'll need to do if you're using a phone.
