I watched your videos on Divide and Conquer and watched you draw the nose. What grade pencil did you use to put in the texture on the nose in that video?
Hang on - I'll take a look

Right - first, you should watch
DIVIDE LINE AND TONE where I'm drawing a copy of that nose. All the line work is done with the sharp edge of a 2B. You'll see I keep rotating the point slightly - that's to move to fresh sharp edge. You could use HB with more pressure but I think 2B draws lines with sufficiently sharp edges.
The shading/shaping layer is HB. You could use 2B lightly but I find it looks too grainy. HB produces a smoother finish. I didn't use 2H but I would usually layer the whole nose lightly with 2H except where I wanted any white highlights to appear.
One thing you must bear in mind: my video lights make the drawing look lighter than it was. Right at the end (at about 13:16) I darkened it look more like the original. Blacks and strong darks matter, or the result will look flat.
Love seeing videos like this one where you draw. Very helpful. I'm going to draw this nose from your drawing. Do you have any videos on drawing eyes? That would be helpful.
Nothing on eyes yet - apart from one in
GRAPHITE INDENTING. I'll be drawing a lot more in the videos. The next will complete the Basic Technique series, and then I'll be working on Intermediate Techniques, which introduces things like Negative Drawing, textures, the basic Hair techniques, shadows, and more.
