Subscribing to topics or sections

Post by Laurene »

Would it be possible to automatically be subscribed to a topic we've posted or we've already commented on Mike? I think that would encourage or remind me to come visit as soon as someone has commented on one of my posts for example. I was also wondering if we can subscribe to a whole section, such as "Graphite Pencil Artwork"?

Automatically setting notifications up is not a feature of the board, simply because it should be your decision to subscribe and not something that has been decided for you. But YOU can set that up - read on...

You can set it up manually Topic by Topic:
At the bottom of every page - on the left - is a spanner/wrench icon. Click that and check "subscribe" if it isn't already checked.

Using that icon:
You can choose to subscribe to any topic
you can choose to subscribe to any forum
And if you post, to ensure you are notified of any replies, check "Notify me when a reply is posted" (in OPTIONS below the SUBMIT button).

If you don't see the "Notify me when a reply is posted" checkbox that's because you're using QUICK REPLY. I allowed that feature because it's handy for quick text replies, BUT it does not permit:
Image attachments or
Notify me when a reply is posted
and a few other useful options, such as attaching your signature.

If you need those features, don't use QUICK REPLY. Instead, click the "Full editor and Preview" button. The FULL EDITOR will give you all the available options.

Finally, you can set up notifications automatically:
Page top-right corner - click your member icon.
From the dropdown box choose "User Control Panel"
Click the "Board Preferences" tab
Click "Edit Posting Defaults"
Find "Notify me upon replies by default:" and click YES

Then click "Edit notification options" and you can fine-tune the notifications you receive.

Job done! :)
