GRIZZLY BEAR PROJECTS to try yourself

Post by Mike Sibley »

There are TWO GRIZZLY BEAR PROJECTS for you to try:

GRIZZLY #1

If you would like to have a go at this image, please do. I've used this in workshops over the years, and often been tempted to draw it myself.

You can download the composition along with a few more Grizzly photos that should help you. Later. I'll have a guideline drawing for you, but not yet, I regret.

Your aim should be to interpret it in any way you feel is right. That's especially true of the background, which in no way needs to look the way it's presented, because this bear was photographed at the GRIZZLY & WOLF DISCOVERY CENTER in West Yellowstone.

If you need assistance or advice, post your drawing to this forum at any stage. And when completed, post it to the Graphite Gallery, so we can all admire your work!

GRIZZLIES #2

I've used this composition in a number of US and Canadian workshops. Now you can have a go yourself. Post your results back here, and I'll be happy to guide you along the way.

The bears and setting are both correctly in the Rockies. However, the setting is in Estes Park, CO, and the bears were photographed at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Centre in West Yellowstone.

So, interpret everything in any way you wish. The bears never travelled to Colorado, and the setting itself has been heavily modified.

The composition, helpful photos, and a guideline drawing are available here:

HAPPY DRAWING!
