This is an another tattoo done yesterday 8th March.
LAURENE,LINDA and to your wife Mike JENNY ~ best wishes to you as it was The Women’s Day
The original design has had both flowers being connected at the left hand side.
I didn’t like it, cause it was planned to fit the top of the forearm, so it would overlap the area rather than nicely fit …
I was advised to maybe move one flower, and I did.
This way the whole design appears more vertical.
The client did love to keep it like this, so we went for it.
I hate visible outlines.
I used to mask the outlines for many many years whenever possible…
Now seeing tattoos with black visible outlines, filled up with the colour is hurting my eyes
I’ve asked my boss for advice, and sort of permission to do it my way, and how to do it.
He was keen to give me an advice.
So I ended up with two options then.
FIRST was to do outlines (they’re necessary to longevity of the shape, to hold the edges, not let them smudge over the years as much…) with DARKER value.
So the outlines will match the filling colour, but they will make sure the edges won’t fade away into the skin tone as much.
SECOND option (my favourite) was to make the outlines with the same colour(no visible outline!!!
So I went for it
I’ve made the outline in red, and filled it with the colour, same with the leaves outlined with the green ink, and filled in.
The leaves were meant to be plain colour though.
But when I started shading them, I’ve suggested to do some more, and add some texture inside the leaves to make them more realistic this way, and keep the yellowish/green filling colour ~ she did approve it, so I’ve ended with this looking leaves…
It wasn’t planned, but sort of listening to my intuition(Laurene
We’ve ran out of time eventually, and we’ve left the bee as it is, just outlines for now.
I do like this look.
The flowers in colour are framing the bee, and I think it’s making the bee more pop, standing out?
I was advices by other artist to shade the bee, to make it more 3D …
I like this idea too.
Keep it in black, but shape the body
So I’ll be finishing off the bee in few weeks time.
It’s good to mention here ~ the area started bleeding when I’ve began filling those leaves with the light green colour…
To the point I couldn’t see whether I’ve saturated area or not?
I couldn’t see the colour, but blood instead…
I’ve asked my boss to check it out, and for advice…
I knew it’s normal, because packing colour in is more aggressive to the skin…
My boss came over and he confirmed it’s normal, and he’s advised to move to the other part of tattoo, and let the trauma easy off.
He said after some time the bleeding will stop eventually, and you will be able to come back to it, and finish it later…
This is exactly what’s happened.
I was dealing with the flowers, and the bleeding was easing off, and has stopped eventually showing the light green colour
So I could come back and finish the leaves details off
This was my first experience like this …
Thank you for following my updates dear friends
