Re: another of the Elk series

When in your book you mentioned spending 6 weeks on the foreground and background on a particular drawing, forgot which one, I knew I had to do something, slow down and get off on the small stuff.

Re: another of the Elk series

rideum-6b.jpg When the negative work is done, only the subject will remain. Interesting, but I now find myself spending more time on the things I would tend to rush through before. Not there yet, but getting better, slowly. Mike I did what you suggested, unfortunately it didn't work. Will need your...

This is the beginning of another of the Elk series only this time rather than starting with the subject I'm staring with what is to me most difficult the background and foreground. BTW I've trie...

Re: Bugler

Thanks Laurene and PogArt, I think both of our comments are right on, there does seem to be a disconnect between the foreground and the background and yes Pog the cow and her baby should have a little more depth.

Bugler

Paying respect1 g2c-14flag 20220630_13293445.jpg thought I would post another of of on going Elk series. This one is a composition created by adding the cow and her youngster, and the foreground. With all this going on it got complicated and maybe a little messy. As just about all my drawings are a...

Re: 6666"s

Both Laurene's and Mike's critiques are spot on. At first I didn't understand the shadow on the horses chest as I now see that it is his chest and the rest of the shadow is the horses behind. If my fix isn't too fixed I will try and fix it. ha ha to fix

Re: Dueling Bucks

Mike and Laurene, thanks for your lively back and forth. Those deer can sure jump. I remember several years ago in Colorado we were driving on an unpaved road in the mountains and an Elk jumped clear over our car as we were driving. By the way, my bad, a male Elk is a Bull not a Buck.
