Re: Hidden garden

Laurene, the finished results underscore Bob's charming words! You certainly created a small magical world, a delightful combination of reality and fantasy. Here is the snail I drew (though I am not sure if it actually posted-tried clicking the photo icon then pasting the picture, the preview shows ...

Re: Artwork sequences in videos

Wow! It is amazing how the amount of work required can get past you when all you have to do is enjoy the results. It is like when I watch an ice skating or dance routine I say "I don't know why they are breathing so hard, it took no effort at all to watch the performance." :) The quality i...

Re: Hidden garden

Your drawing partner appears to be very interested in your lovely picture! Even without "obsessing over details " it has a lot of character. We must have similar views of life! I had to search for it but I found a drawing I had done of a snail. Just the snail, no background detail. I have ...

Artwork sequences in videos

In making your videos I am always amazed at how you create progressions of the artwork used for demonstration purposes when you are obviously using completed art pieces. Is that time consuming to create?

Re: trying negative space

One of the aspects I don’t like about this picture is the repetition of limb shapes on the right hand side, though if I was aiming for a spooky look (which I wasn’t) it might be useful. Concerning negative drawing, after posting I continue to think about it. I might have realized a few things which ...

Re: trying negative space

Thanks for the critique and the advice. I like the idea of copies as a way of experimenting. You are right the middle trees show too much detail. I am also not sure how true this scan is to the original. I played around with tones and contrasts in Photoshop but didn't seem to be able to get it to lo...

Re: Touble with tone?

My husband creates aviation dioramas attempting to be as historically accurate as possible. sometimes all there is to work from is black and white photos. It can be a real challenge and sometimes impossible to know the colors. you would think the lightest colors would have the lightest values. Not a...

trying negative space

Here is my attempt at learning what is in the Negative Space part I video. The scan isn't an exact match to the original, but close. I wasn't going to post it because I'm not really happy with the results, but decided feed back might be beneficial.

Re: NEGATIVE DRAWING: Part 2

I've been watching those to. And FENRIR, who I find to be even more helpful. Mia's currently learning "heel"... in between "Leave!", "Get down you big Flummox!!" and other assorted encouragements :) “get down you big Flummox” If you say FENRIR is even better I wi...

Re: NEGATIVE DRAWING: Part 2

I see what you mean about flitting around, but I was primarily asking if you tweak values as the picture develops. if I understand “I can make changes - lighten, darken, erase - anything at any time“ you are refining the values as the picture develops. (I haven’t figured out how to do quotes with da...
