Re: Serengeti Siesta WIP

Thanks Laurene. From your post I can see that you are a fellow cat lover and so can relate. He/she looks beautiful, by the way . I can't believe how close we got to this guy, without him even appearing to notice. In their actions and poses they really are just like big domestic cats, though I wouldn...

Serengeti Siesta WIP

I used Stabilo Carbothello pastel pencils on Art Spectrum Colorfix paper for this drawing of a sleeping lion, from a photo that my husband took when we were on a safari trip in Africa some years ago. Any suggestions as to what else needs to be done or altered (if possible) would be greatly appreciat...

Re: Penguin WIP

Thanks everyone for your comments, and Mike, I'm pleased that you kept writing as these are very helpful tips. As Linda mentioned, it was Fabriano Artistico that I used and I did mention to her at the time that I was having trouble with the texture of the paper showing through ( this isn't a case of...

Penguin WIP

This penguin, acting like a porpoise, was drawn from a photo taken by my husband when we were on a cruise to Antarctica. I would really appreciate any suggestions as to how it could be improved, especially how to make the water more realistic.
Thanks

Re: Lion as requested by Linda

Thanks for your kind words PogArt, It definitely was a challenge, but a great learning exercise, to see how an effect can be created with so few colours. Linda's guidance and encouragement of course played a large part in achieving this - I'm so lucky to have access to such a great teacher! All the ...

Re: Lion as requested by Linda

Thanks, Linda. I agree, it has come out a lot darker, think it must be something to do with the photography. I agree, I should have used a bit of artistic license and added highlights to his eyes- the darkening of the colours in the photo has really shown this up. Will try a touch of white pastel.

Re: Yosemite Squirrel WIP

This was quite providential Linda, as I was planning to do another drawing of this squirrel during the break. I’m not happy with the bark of the log on which he is sitting, so any suggestions as to how I can make it more realistic would be a great help. Will also take on board your suggestions Mike,...
