Re: Tibetan Spaniel

Thank you very much for your comments Mike - you are absolutely right - I got completely bogged down drawing the body, and this is obviously evident to you. I can now see how the eye is drawn to that part of the dog, when the face should be the main focus. Maybe one day I will be able to spot these ...

Re: Toybox of Dramas

Linda, there is so much to look at in this fabulous drawing. Overall it gives a lovely, warm, nostalgic feeling of past times. I especially like the details of the broken toys - the doll missing her eye, and arms. I can imagine everything tangled up together in the beads.

Re: "Couples"

What an amazing drawing!! I find more detail to admire, the more I look at it. - the reflections in the glass, the metal jewellery, especially her little bracelet. Also the difference between their skin tones and textures where the arms are linked - wow!

Red Panda

FE8A5B6C-CB41-4519-826B-EBFA218C13C6.jpeg A4 sized drawing of a red panda - have enjoyed trying to create the impression of thick, soft fur of varying lengths. There is more work to do to sharpen up the edges of the whiskers, and to address a few blunt ends to hairs. I am also wondering whether the...

Re: Two horses

Thank you very much Laurene and Linda. I completely agree with your comments about the mane. I have spent some time studying again the drawing of different types of hair, and need to take a different approach. This has now become just an exercise in practicing textures, and I intend to begin the who...

Re: Conqueror Paper weight - does it matter?

Mike, I would be interested in a comparison between the use of Conqueror diamond white and brilliant white smooth Bristol Board. I use both papers and prefer the overall effect of the Conqueror, however, I have not noticed very much difference in the way the graphite behaves on the two types.

Two horses

work in progress. My favourite bit so far are the horses’ ears. I am finding the larger areas quite difficult. Actual drawing is slightly darker than it appears here.
