swadale sheep
IMG_20240521_083800384~2.jpg I had the most wonderful day yesterday taken for a drive through the Yorkshire Dales, up and over and back the Buttertubs pass. All along the roads were these black faced Dales sheep. I did this quick sketch before bed, based on memory, photos and a Google image. In my ...

Re: Charcoal Landscape/Seascape
An evocotive scene. Someplace I would love to experiend irl. I like how my eye is drawn to the gull. The smudge doesn't bother me, but if you wished you could try draw in some more charcoal to disguise it. But not really nessecary.
Good image, lovely feel to it.

Re: What I am drawing on
well,
this is BRIILLIANT Reinhard!
You have captured the soul of the sitter, it is realistic without being 'photo' realistic. Wonderful.
Personally I think this is a big leap forward for your art journey. You have drawn the person, not the photo.
Hope all is well with you and Regina,
regards,
Linda

Re: Havanese
Great piece of colour pencil work Terri! And your first time drawing in CP as well! Excellent. Mike has some good comments (as usual), but I would add one of my own... ditch the 'black' pencil next time. Black can be a dead colour, same with dark browns. The real pleaseure with CP is to build up the...

Re: HOME WORK
And, because we have a VIP staying here in May, I'm very busy redecorating the hallway, stairs and landing. [/i] Those pesky VIPS!! but NOT these plain spindles. I thought they were modern additions, but they were fixed with square 19/20th century nails. Possibly hand-forged. [/i] What are you goin...

Re: PLATE-FINISH Papers choice
Hi Mike, good review showing pros and cons to both. Personally, I like a little more tooth to my paper. But this is because I will often use water mediums as an undertone/drawing. I have found the Conqueror slips and pools a little too much for my likeing when using washes. These plate finish papers...

Re: Wild thing
What Laurene and Mike said. Scruffy is good. Your horse says more to me about the character of horses than a pretty portrait. Plus, draw what YOU love and like and want to express - don't draw to a 'market'. Its much more fun and satisfying. You may never make a fortune but you will be rich in many ...
