Re: Ballpoint Pen

Laurene, I absolutely love this image!!!! I might try my fine liners again, although I don't like the friction on the paper from them. I have technical pens (Koh-i-Nor and Alvin) from back in the day and they are such a pain to clean. That said, you inspired me and I will have to dig those out again ...

Re: Ballpoint Pen

Thanks so much for the helpful information!!! I am finding the ballpoint creates finer shading than a dip pen. I suppose I could get it with a technical pen, but fear that I would wear those expensive tips out quickly, but I may try it yet. Fineliners? Don't like the feel of felt dragging across the ...

Ballpoint Pen

This is a work in progress, but not sure I will finish it because I am using someone else's work to experiment with. I think I am liking ball point pens. They work a lot like pencils, except erasing is not possible. I tried. Perhaps it depends upon the type of paper. This is a cheap sketchbook. It's ...

Re: Ball Point Pen Drawing

Thanks so much! I am impressed with both your work and Vincent's. I am actually blown away by his work. I'm sorry to hear that he is battling cancer. I'm inspired! I've seen some interesting work done with ballpoint. I have also seen some comment that it's not really fine art because it's not ...

Ball Point Pen Drawing

Hello all! I wish everyone a Happy New Year! I want to express my gratitude for this site, Mike, Linda, et al!

I've been busy knitting emotional support chickens, but I forgot that I needed one, too. It's time to get back into everything drawing.

I wonder if anyone has opinions about ball point ...

Re: Commision Work

Thank you all for great advice! I am going to bow out of this. Illustration is frustrating!

In my case, there is no retainer or contract. I have submitted initial drawings to him. He said "you're getting close." That almost feels like "control." There is no way of knowing where or how he would use ...

Re: Commision Work

Love you, Mike! Great advice! Thank you for sharing your insights and experiences.

When I draw an animal, I'm trying to reach for it's soul. It's telling me something with its body and its eyes.( It's the same with people.) It's hard to do that when you're trying to find someone else's connection ...

Commision Work

How did I land this and really, do I want it? Any stories about commission work to share?

The cousin of a friend is writing a poetry book and he was working with an artist who has vanished. I have seen her work. It's lovely. I suggested he continue to interview others beyond me so that he can ...
