Re: Drawing Wiry Hair
Without looking at a Border terrier, there are a few aspects of wiry hair that spring to mind. 1: The hairs tend to clump with pointed ends that don't split into wispy strands. 2: Definite V shapes. For me, they are the main Visual Clues. The clumps contain sharp, dark, V-shaped gaps between them. 3...

Re: Wombat WIP
I know nothing about Wombats... except we have one currently featuring in a TV advert. With Meerkats. Who have Russian accents and names. Don't ask! :) At least the Wombat has an Aussie accent. So, I'm delighted to see a real Wombat busy in its native environment. It's such a lovely drawing, ...

Re: Failing to achieve darker tones
I'm pretty sure the main issue is that I don't like very hard surfaces and usually draw straight from the pad. I suppose I'll have to wean myself off that habit. Preferably, yes. One of the main problems of drawing on a pad is you have to constantly relearn what your pencils can achieve. If you hav...

Re: Ancient Souls
Well... I don't know what happened to my carefully crafted post of yesterday.... but I think I looked at a preview and then forgot to actually post it! Then shut it down overnight without saving the draft... Aaaaaaggghh! But I still have the graphics, and a hazy memory of what I said. So.... I think...

Re: “DOBERMAN” - oil study.
The part of the muzzle I’m referring to does the same thing as our human lips do - it’s separating gums and teeth from outside going along the jaw’s edge. Ummmm... well... that would be LIPS . There, you solved your own problem. :) From outside to inside: Lower jaw > lips > gums > teeth > tongue. O...

Re: “DOBERMAN” - oil study.
...the bottom side of the muzzle, sorry I don’t know how it’s in English, the flesh next to the teeth (gums)? Gums -correct. In the lower jaw. I suppose you could call it the lower mandible too, but who does that? You've already achieved a happy, and bright and intelligent appearance as befi...

Re: Ancient Souls
Photo fixed for you. ;) I can see what you mean, and follow your reasoning, but... Ooooohhh! I like puzzles! ;) Theoretically, the perspective should work. BUT, physically , they are side by side. Touching. We're bound to read them as being mother and youngster, or just big and small... becau...

HAPPY NEW YEAR, Art!
This is already looking splendid. I'm just elbowing my way into a front row seat to watch it unfold.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

Re: Ancient Souls
I love the look of resignation on their faces! :) The Muskox look great. The snow looks OK, too, but I'm not entirely sure if we'd know it was snow if you hadn't mentioned it. It could be soft sand, for example. I suggest you look online through photos of things in snow. Then try to work out why you...

Ahemmmm... While we do allow nudity within these pages, inappropriate dress is another matter.
