Re: "Call me Jack" - FINISHED
I have one tiny suggestion, but otherwise... Wow! :o When I look at this, I see a dog looking back at me. Not a drawing. A dog. And a dog with recognisable character. Both friendly and clever. If you told me, he really can tie his own bow tie... I'd believe you. ;) The niggling little something: Tho...

Re: "Call me Jack"
...I think you could with no effort pick up this and that at this stage - so I could have learn on my faults (😉) Instead - you keep convincing me, that I'm doing it well, and I'm carry on the right direction 😉👍 There a very good reason for that... It's because you're doing it well, and carrying on ...

Re: "Call me Jack"
I'm running out of superlatives...
But this just gets better and better - even when I think it's as good as it can get.
Keep going - I'm enjoying the ride!

Re: "Call me Jack"
But this is actually my first time when I'm experimenting with mixed powder to walnut oil. I did rub the mixed liquid into the paper surface, so it's firm and solid like a paint... Once dry - won't smudge the drawing (I'm hoping so, as this is an experiment 👍) That was a brave thing to do. It could...

Re: "Call me Jack"
I'm guessing the Manx Loughtan is the sheep breed 😉 I'm loving animals, but in this case I feel I'm a total ignorant! To me, the sheep is just sheep - as I've never been i to sheep keeping hobby 😉 Very wise!!!!!!! The only good thing about sheep is they give you a legitimate reason to swear. Often!...

Re: Timeless an old woman
I guess that's the problem with cameras, they can only record what they see. Partly true. The real problem is that they take an average view of everything they see. Cameras look at the whole scene, adjust for the brightest and darkest values (and assume white is an 18% grey) and then take a photo. ...

Re: "Call me Jack"
Well, this is off to a fantastic start. It has life already! Jack reminds me of our Jess. Except Jess didn't wear bow ties..... probably because the sheep would have laughed at her. Heavens - it's years since we kept sheep (Manx Loughtan). How time flies. I’m going to enjoy watching Jack progress.

Superb! And that's not a word use lightly. It's a beautiful portrait crafted with love.
Are you giving it to your mum when you visit? If you are.... she's going to be so delighted!

Re: Mum portrait...
One quick suggestion... I love that you've left ghostly suggestions of flowers above your mum, because she remains the main focus. But that bright flower over her left temple really catches my attention - and pushes your mum into the background. It's just my personal opinion, but darkening it slight...

Re: Mum portrait...
I was expecting some picking up on the faults by your experienced artist's eye, but so far not any harsh comments... It means - you're trying to be very gentle not to discourage me (😉) or you really like it so far, Secretly, of course, I'm waiting for the opportunity to tear it to pieces, but..... ...
