Thanks for your prompt response, Mike. Some of it may have been the photography, but I agree her face is a bit lost. I shall try lightening it and see if that helps.
Once again thanks for your helpful comments.

I have always wanted to attempt to draw a ballerina, so when my great niece had to pose for a photo prior to her recent ballet concert, this was too good an opportunity to miss. I have used Stabilo CarbOthella pastel pencils with some Pan Pastel on Art Spectrum ColorFix paper. Any suggestions re alt...

Re: Wombat WIP
Thanks so much Mike. I'm pleased with your comments on the setting for the wombat, as I was aiming to have it not detract from her, but wanted to convey the impression that she was clambering over the fallen logs (they are not the most agile or graceful of animals!). Whilst wombats are common on the...

This little wombat, on remote Maria Island south of Australia, wasn't letting any objects bar her progress and wasn't in the least bit interested in us. I've attempted to capture her using Stabilo CarbOthello pastel pencils on Artspectrum Pastel paper and would welcome any comments/suggestions/advic...

Re: Gumtree WIP
Thanks PogArt. Yes, I definitely am lucky to have Linda as a teacher. I have only been attending her classes for a few years, but greatly admire her work and have learnt so much from her. It's interesting to see the development of your latest subject with the bear and its kill and I look forward to ...

Re: Gumtree WIP
Thanks for the encouragement and kind words, Linda and Mike. Yes, I had intended to mention the paper and medium, Linda but completely forgot about it! Thanks for adding that in. BTW, even though I have learnt so much from you, there is still plenty more that you have to teach me, Linda. All the bes...

Many of you in the Northern Hemisphere may not be familiar with iconic Australian gumtree, but I would be interested in any suggestions as to what alterations or additions may be needed

Re: Vietnamese Lady WIP
Thanks so much Linda. I've had Brian playing around with the macro setting on his camera and the tripod and he's managed to get some much sharper images.

Re: Vietnamese Lady WIP
Thanks so much Mike and PogArt. I'm sorry that the photo was so bad, but I just couldn't seem to get it focused. If anyone knows if there any tricks to getting sharp photos of small works, I'd really like to know.

On a recent trip to Vietnam I was struck by the elegance of the Vietnamese women in their traditional dress and wanted to try to capture this in this miniature pastel drawing (approx 12cm x 10 cm). I'm not sure how much detail to put into a drawing of this size and also would appreciate any comments...
