*Stretching watercolor paper - failure...

Yesterday I tried to stretch watercolor paper for the first time ever.
I watched couple of YouTube tutorials, and I hoped to succeed
This morning I can see it didn't work...
I suspect is because of the wrong stretching surface?
I did it on the coffee glass top table, because I thought the glass is perfect to water the paper...?
Am I wrong..?!
I just damaged the paper, because it has dried and got glued to the glass...
I was expecting something that may go wrong, especially I was worry to find the wavy surface of the paper after it dries, but it got bonded to the glass, and I'm very confused about it
Should I made wooden flat panel for stretching then
