fine art print
This print was commissioned by the Scottish Deerhound Club of America through one of my US dealers. The brief stated "no dead animals" and suggested various settings - including lochs, bagpipes, castles and kilts. Fortunately I was able to tone down the setting to the one you now see.
Every aspect of this study has its place. The bellowing stag is with its hinds, so it's the closed season for hunting, and the man is calling his loose dog to its leash - the small-game bag over his shoulder telling us that his quarry is probably rabbits but certainly not deer.
The entire project from accepting the commission to print delivery in the US was accomplished in just five weeks! The original drawing took approximately 95 hours to complete.
This print was believed to be sold out about 15 years ago but a number of unsold prints were discovered in the USA. Don't let this opportunity slip past you this time!
