Pyrenean Mountain Dog (Great Pyrenees) fine art dog print by Mike Sibley

"Pyrenean Pals"

This was the last in a series of three prints produced for the Pyrenean Mountain Dog Club of Great Britain to commemorate its Silver Jubilee. The title "Pyrenean Pals" is found only on prints sold by myself and by the club. The Club suggested the inclusion of the Château de Foix — a famous and ancient centre of the breed. The design and orientation of the château was taken from a 19th century woodcut, viewed from the village below, and updated with the addition of the later high tower and the removal of roofs topping the crenellations. The setting is imaginary but incorporates a feeling for the area based on video evidence.

The limited edition of 200 was released on 15th July 1996 and sold out before the end of that year. In 1997 a release of 31 Artists Proofs was made, all of which were purchased by an American dealer and sold immediately.

The original drawing took 116 hours to complete and is available for sale.
